About the artist
Art & Amp was created by acrylic artist, Chantia "Tia" Bailey of San Antonio, Tx.

As a youth growing up in Detroit, Bailey struggled to verbalize and cope with her emotions, so she turned to various art forms to convey what words could not. In 2013, her exploration into artistic self-expression turned to acrylic painting.
Bailey’s recent work explores a shared experience amongst black women struggling with the stigmas of and disparities in mental health care. She is deeply influenced by this imbalance and its effects on the individual and their community. By creating art that personifies this reality, she hopes to create a reminder to black women everywhere that they are not alone. Bailey hopes that this form of representation will encourage people on their healing journey, just as creating the art has done for her.
